Abstract

Proboscis monkey (Nasalis larvatus) is a primate endemic to the island of Borneo which has very unique characteristics, especially adult males, namely a long nose, a body covered with reddish-brown hair and a distended stomach. The development of tourism based on the original behavior of the proboscis monkey aims to study the behavior patterns or activities of the proboscis monkey, and develop a tourism program in the Sungai Wain and Protection Forest (HLSW and Wain River area). The data retrieval methods taken are the river line, concentration count, and land line. The types of data taken in this final project are vegetation profile, water quality, temperature and humidity, proboscis monkey population, and native behavior of proboscis monkeys. The proboscis monkeys found were 147 individuals with a total of 11 One Male Group (OMG). Vegetation analysis was carried out in the Sungai Wain Protected Forest (HLSW) ecotourism area. The data found contained nine types of trees, four types of poles, and three types of saplings. The behavior of proboscis monkeys found were moving (moving places), affiliative, eating, aggressive, submassive, vocalization, maternal, and eating.
